This Windows software provides medical students and physicians with a comprehensive instrument for self-assessment and review within microbiology. The questions are designed to parallel the format and degree of difficulty of the questions contained in Step 1 of the USMLE examination.
The disks of the "PreTest StudyDisk" series contain the full text and illustrations from the books in the "Basic Science PreTest" series: 500 questions, rationales and references. Added to this is an engine which allows the user to create an infinite number of timed tests on the areas of their choice, with the user setting the time limit. "StudyDisk" allows the user to assess their strengths and weaknesses by generating a performance analysis (which can be viewed on screen or printed out), which details test results by topic, factual versus problem-solving ability, question type, clinical data and data interpretation. Simple to load and to use, these titles are a cost-effective step towards successful test-taking. Study tips and suggestions are focused to meet students' specific needs.
