Left Main Coronary Revascularization
Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-031-05267-5 (ISBN)
This book comprehensively reviews LM revascularization, one of the
most technically challenging and prognostically relevant topics for
cardiologists. LM carries blood to 70-80% of the normal heart, and
diseases affecting this coronary segment are a common cardiac condition.
Beginning in the sixties, management was exclusively within the
domain of cardiac surgeons, and recent dramatic changes in percutaneous
techniques have led to huge improvements but have also
brought significant surgical challenges. In the book, top cardiac surgeons
describe current and future operative techniques, while leading
interventional cardiologists discuss new bifurcation techniques. This bookalso investigates the recently released European Society of Cardiology
Guidelines in detail.
Featuring the latest scientific studies with long-term follow up, and
detailed descriptions of the techniques used, thisbook provides comprehensive
guidance for any clinician, and is a valuable resource for
cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and
internists.
This is an open access book.
lt;p>Bernardo Cortese is an interventional cardiologist, and Director of Cardiology at San Carlo Clinic in Milano. He is an expert in the areas of drug-coated balloons, bioresorbable scaffolds, antithrombotics, optical coherence tomography, and left main coronary revascularization. Dr Cortese has performed more than 3000 coronary and peripheral percutaneous interventions as first operator. He is also consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Gruppo San Donato for peripheral and structural heart interventions.
He is President of the Scientific Committee of Fondazione Ricerca e Innovazione Cardiovascolare, a research institution based in Milano. He is Coordinator of the International Fellowship Program-European Society of Cardiology (ESC), since 2013, and is Coordinator of Clinical & Scientific Research at San Carlo Clinic. He is involved in several educational programs, including the "DEB School", and he is author of more than 300 publications indexed in Pubmed.
