The AAP Section on Obesity (SOOb) is comprised of a diverse group of 600 general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, and allied health professionals who have an interest in the field of pediatric obesity prevention, assessment. and treatment. The SOOb is governed by an Executive Committee of six obesity experts, and its mission is to improve the health and well-being of children and families by reducing the prevalence of childhood obesity and promoting healthy active living. The SOOb supports its members and the Academy by writing policy, generating CME programming, developing networking opportunities, and supporting timely communication. Editors: Sarah Armstrong, MD, FAAP, is the Chair of the AAP Section on Obesity, Co-Director of the Duke Center for Childhood Obesity, and Professor of Pediatrics and Population Health Sciences, Duke University, Durham, NC. Victoria Rogers, MD, FAAP, is the Medical Director of Let’s Go!, The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME. Mona Sharifi, MD, MPH, FAAP, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics (General Pediatrics) and Biostatistics (Health Informatics) and Director of the Yale Scholars in Implementation Science K12 Program, as well as Co-director of the National Clinician Scholars Program, Yale University, New Haven, CT.
