Helicobacter pylori, a gram-negative bacterium is a common infection in the developing world. The discovery of H. pylori has been associated with gastric problems and, in severe cases, gastric cancer. The pathogen is generally transmitted through contaminated food and water sources or from an infected person to others. The prevalence of H. pylori infections arises chiefly in developing countries, because many of these countries suffer extremely from a test and treatment approach.This book details the pathophysiology, symptoms, complications, and treatment of H. pylori, and will address the need of students and healthcare workers who want to learn more about this subject. It covers the brief history, taxonomy and virulence factors of H. pylori, as well as its mechanism of transmission, pathogenicity, resistance, isolation, culturing, and possible treatment.

Dr Muhammad Saleem Khan is currently Assistant Professor of Zoology in the Department of Zoology of the University of Okara, Pakistan. He completed his PhD in Zoology at Government College University Faisalabad, Pakistan, and is a member of the National Academy of Young Scientists Pakistan. He is the author of 39 journal articles, three book chapters and seven conference papers, as well as the book Environmental Pollution, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Development: Issues and Remediation.Hasnain Nangyal is a Research Fellow in the Department of Botany of Hazara University Mansehra, Pakistan. He is an active member of the Pakistan Medical Microbiology Association, the Pakistan Medicinal Plants Association, the North Carolina Herbs Association, the Pakistan Society of Psychophysiology, and the Arab Society for Fungal Conservation.
