This book aims to cover the applications of nanotechnology against human infectious diseases. The chapters of the book discuss the role of nanotechnology in the efficient diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. It explicitly provides an overview of nanodiagnostics for infectious diseases from nanoparticles-based, nanodevice-based, and point-of-care platforms. The book also covers the state-of-the-art review of recent progress in biomimetic and bioengineered nanotherapies to treat infectious diseases. It also presents a nano carrier-based CRISPR/Cas9 delivery system for gene editing and its applications for developing interventional approaches against communicable diseases. Further, it reviews the recent developments in nanotechnology to engineer nanoparticles with desired physicochemical properties as a line of defense against multi-drug resistance micro-organisms. Cutting across the disciplines, this book serves as a guide for researchers in biotechnology, parasitology, and nanotechnology.

Dr. Saif Hameed is currently working as an Associate Professor at Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University Haryana (AUH). He did his bachelors from the University of Delhi and Master's from Jamia Hamdard. He completed his doctoral studies in Life Sciences from the Jawaharlal Nehru University. He was a Visiting Scholar in Institut für Mikrobiologie, Heinrich-Heine-Universität, Düsseldorf, Germany. He received Young Scientist award under the Fast Track Scheme from the Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi. Dr. Hameed is a life member of the International Society of Infectious Diseases (ISID), Association for Microbiologist (AMI), India, and Society of Biological Chemists (SBC), India. Dr. Hameed is actively engaged in research in the field of infectious diseases, particularly on multidrug resistance (MDR) in pathogenic fungi. He has published more than 60 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals and edited 5 books, and contributed 25 book chapters.

Dr. Suriya Rehman is currently working as an Assistant professor in the Department of Epidemic Diseases Research, Institute for Research and Medical Consultation, Imam Abdulrahman Bin University, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. She has obtained her Ph.D. in Microbial Toxicology from Jamia Hamdard (Hamdard University), New Delhi and Council for Scientific Industrial Research, IIIM Jammu/Srinagar, in 2010. She has extensive research experience in the field of infectious diseases, multidrug resistance (MDR), nanotechnology, drug development, and cancer therapeutics. She has published more than 70 peer-reviewed research articles in the international journals of high repute and has edited one book. She is a member of the editorial board of several international journals.
