Pier Cristoforo Giulianotti, MD, FACS, is the Lloyd Nyhus Professor of Surgery, the division chief of General Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the scientific director of the SITL (Surgical Innovation and Training Laboratory) in Chicago, IL. He is the honorary president and founder of the Clinical Robotic Surgical Association (CRSA). A pioneer and world-renowned surgeon in the field of robotic surgery, he was the first in the world to perform a significant series of robotic procedures to treat complex diseases and cancers (including Whipple, major hepatectomies, esophagectomy). He has carried out thousands of robot-assisted surgeries. In the last twenty years, he has done extensive work in teaching and training all over the world, as well as proctoring of surgeons from other institutions. Dr. Giulianotti is the author of several hundred scientific publications (including peer reviewed articles, textbooks, book chapters and conference papers). Enrico Benedetti, MD, FACS, is the Warren H. Cole Chair in Surgery, professor and head of the Department of Surgery, medical director of the Abdominal Organ Transplant Program, Department of Surgery at UI Health in Chicago, IL. Dr. Benedetti is a prominent world-renowned leader in organ transplantation and in the use of robotic-assisted techniques in transplantation. He has to his credit many successful surgical firsts, including the first robotic donor nephrectomy for a living-donor kidney transplant, the first combined living-donor liver and bowel transplant from an adult to an infant, the first robotic combined kidney and pancreas procurement for a living-donor transplant, and the largest series of living-donor intestinal transplants in the world. Dr. Benedetti is the author of several hundred scientific publications (including peer reviewed articles, textbooks, book chapters and conference papers). Alberto Mangano, MD, is a senior research fellow at the University Illinois at Chicago, Department of Surgery. He is also training and research coordinator at the SITL (Surgical Innovation and Training Laboratory) in Chicago, IL. His work is focused on robotics, virtual training and AI. Dr. Mangano is the author and co-author of numerous publications (including peer reviewed articles, book chapters and conference papers).
