Modern Breast Cancer Imaging
Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-030-84545-2 (ISBN)
The available information on breast cancer has evolved so rapidly that a textbook understanding is no longer sufficient to make sound therapeutic decisions. Further, the latest findings and data are spread throughout the scientific literature of various medical fields, making it difficult for medical professionals to keep abreast of these advances, and to apply them in their day-to-day work.
This book provides updated information on breast cancer, such as the modern molecular classification and staging, and demonstrates how imaging with pathologic correlation can be used in management decisions. In addition, it identifies the most suitable imaging modalities for screening, diagnosis and monitoring for each clinical case.
Given its scope, the book offers a valuable resource for all medical professionals (practicing or still in training) whose work involves breast cancer, including radiologists, breast surgeons, pathologists, radiotherapists and nuclear medicine professionals.
lt;p>Su Jin Kim Hsieh, MD is an Assistant Radiologist at the Centro de Diagnóstico por Imagem das Doenças da Mama (CEDIM) of the Instituto de Radiologia (INRAD) of the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Instituto do Câncer do Estado de São Paulo (ICESP), and Sírio Libanês Hospital.
Dr. Kim Hsieh graduated from the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (USP) in 1992, completed Diagnostic Radiology residency at INRAD, was a visiting fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, and was a research fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr Kim Hsieh is a fellow of the Brazilian College of Radiology, she has been training residents and fellows at CEDIM - INRAD since 1999, coordinating several Breast Imaging courses with a focus on Breast MRI, and coordinating the Breast MRI service at INRAD.
Elizabeth Anne Morris, MD is Professor and Chair of the Radiology Department at University of California at Davis (UCD). Prior to that she was a Professor and the Larry Norton Endowed Chair at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) and Chief of the Breast Imaging Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). Dr. Morris graduated summa cum laude from UCD in Biochemistry and received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She completed her residency at WCMC and a body/breast imaging fellowship at MSKCC, where she has then remained on the faculty.
Dr. Morris is a fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR), Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) and International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and is a past president of the SBI. She is the inaugural Equity Diversity and Inclusion Officer of the ISMRM and co-chair of the Women of ISMRM (WISMRM). Her recent research efforts have focused on employing imaging biomarkers to assess risk and treatment response.
