ABOUT THE SERIES: The Understanding Nursing Associate Practice series (UNAP) is a new collection of books uniquely designed to support trainee Nursing Associates throughout their training and into a professional career.

Christina Roulston is a lecturer on a number of pre-registration BN modules and module leader for medicine management for Trainee Nursing Associates on the foundation degree programme. As well as having 16 years of experience of registered general nursing in the UK she has undertaken a variety of teaching and clinical posts within British Forces Germany and Cyprus. In addition to experience in private health care she has undertaken posts in surgery, operating theatres, recovery, endoscopy and for British Forces in primary care posts. Miriam Davies is a lecturer at the University of Salford within the School of Health & Society. She has an adult nursing background within the fields of surgery and oncology. She later specialised in public health, working as a health visitor and continues to practise in this field. Her particular areas of clinical interest include child development, health promotion, medicines management and health technology. Miriam primarily teaches pre-registration nursing as well as having involvement in postgraduate programmes such as specialist community public health and non-medical prescribing. She has been actively involved with university research projects as well as curriculum design and planning for both nursing associate and pre-registration nursing programmes.
