Michael Gruss, owner and founder of Solid State Concepts, works as independent scientific consultant for the pharmaceutical, chemical and nutrition industry. He earned a PhD in chemistry from Giessen University in 1998. In 2000, he joined Grunenthal GmbH, where he established and developed a solid-state investigation laboratory for drug substances and intermediates. He is author or co-author of more than 15 patent applications in the field of salts, cocrystals and polymorphs. Carsten Schauerte is the founder and managing director of solid-chem GmbH at the Bochum Biomedical Center. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from Essen University, where he worked on the structure-activity relationship of small molecule drugs. He has broad expertise on pharmaceutical solid state chemistry, polymorphism and intellectual property issues.
