Oxford Textbook of Psoriatic Arthritis
Oxford University Press (Verlag)
978-0-19-873758-2 (ISBN)
With the recent advances in the understanding of pathogenesis, and the development of novel therapies, the Oxford Textbook of Psoriatic Arthritis provides a comprehensive overview of the disease. Each chapter is written by leading clinicians and scientists in the field of psoriatic arthritis, to provide a contemporary view of PsA, and a look into the future directions of research. Covering everything from epidemiology and diagnosis to genetics and pathology, detailed sections on treatment and outcomes provide an invaluable resource for the clinician. The book is also highly illustrated with both clinical images such as x-rays and histological photographs to aid clinical knowledge, and diagrams of the immunology and genetics that underlie the disease.
Practical and all-inclusive, with summary boxes to distil the most important information, the Oxford Textbook of Psoriatic Arthritis will prove an invaluable resource for rheumatologists, dermatologists, trainees, and all members of the multidisciplinary team who are interested in recent advances in PsA.
Professor Oliver FitzGerald is a consultant rheumatologist at St Vincent's University Hospital, and the Newman Clinical Research Professor at the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research at University College Dublin. He has published over 280 peer-reviewed papers, and his main research interests include the clinical and therapeutic studies of psoriatic arthritis, the development of novel imaging techniques for measuring synovial or entheseal inflammation, and studies of gene and protein expression in diseased tissue. He also serves as a council member for the Group for Research and Assessment is Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA), and is developing a longitudinal study of soluble biomarkers with the OMERACT group. Dr Dafna Gladman is a senior scientist at the Toronto Western Research Institute, University Health Network and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She heads the Centre for Prognosis in Rheumatic Diseases, which currently studies areas including Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Psoriatic Arthritis, and is co-director of the Psoriatic Arthritis at the UHN Arthritis Program. She has over 520 peer-reviewed publications, including important contributions to the field such as identifying predictors for disease progression and mortality. She received the Verna Wright Prize for outstanding contributions to the field of Psoriatic Arthritis by the International psoriatic Arthritis Group.
