This text details the ways in which the eye might be affected by contact lens wear. This edition has been completely updated and examines the area from anatomy and physiology through to complications, deposits and solutions, including developments since the previous edition.
When first published in 1985 this book was readily welcomed by students of advanced courses in contact lens practice and practitioners seeking further information and guidance on the treatment of patients' after-care problems. Since the first edition, however, significant progress has been made in the understanding of the mechanisms of the eye leading to a much more profound knowledge of the changes that take place during contact lens wear. Completely revised and substantially re-written, this second edition takes full account of these advances. The chapter on the cornea by Professor Hodson presents the first authoritative review of corneal stromal physiology. In addition, new chapters have been included on Lens deposition and spoilation and Contact lens associated infections and related conditions. The fundamental approach of the book remains the same and The Eye in Contact Lens Wear continues to provide the most comprehensive reference text on the subject for the modern practitioner.
