Dianne V. Jewell, PT, DPT, PhD received her Bachelor of Arts in history from Williams College, her Master of Science in physical therapy from Boston University, her Doctor of Philosophy in health services organization and research from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and her transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy from VCU. She has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient settings for 25 years and was board certified in cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy for 20 years. Dr. Jewell is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Rehab Intel Network (Ruther Glen, VA), a consulting company providing project and data management to individuals and organizations dedicated to physical rehabilitation. She held a full-time appointment as assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at VCU for 11 years where she was responsible for the evidence-based practice curricular content. She also has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Departments of Physical Therapy at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center (Memphis, TN) and the University of Vermont (Burlington, VT). Dr. Jewell has authored several peer-reviewed articles. Her research interests include physical therapy practice variation, quality and outcomes of physical therapy patient management, and early mobility interventions for patients in critical care. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Centers (Richmond, VA) and previously served two terms on the Barod of Directors of the American Physical Therapy Association (Alexandria, VA).
