A practical guide for trainee neuropathologists and general pathologists wishing to have a closer acquaintance with the methods used in neuropathology. In the book, particular stress is laid on the choice of specimens to be taken at post-mortem.
"Diagnostic Neuropathology" is intended to be used as a practical guide by trainee neuropathologists and general pathologists wishing to have a closer acquaintance with the methods used in neuropathology. In the book, particular stress is laid on the choice of specimens to be taken at post mortem - for example when and how to remove the spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles, on the choice of blocks for histological examination, and on the uses of staining methods which may be unfamiliar in general pathology. The requirements for the second part of the R.C.Path examination have been kept in mind. The authors make frequent references to existing works on neuropathology and take for granted that their readers have some basic knowledge of neuroanatomy. However, as much in post mortem diagnostic work depends on the pathologist's ability to locate particular structures, a good deal of anatomical detail, with illustrations, is included in various parts of the book.
