A good understanding of the optical principles behind contact lenses and their surface design is essential for successful contact lens fitting. This book covers topics such as basic visual optics, in order to increase the awareness of what is being attempted in clinical practice.
A good understanding of the optical principles behind contact lenses and thier surface design is essential for successful contact lens fitting. This book provides an introduction and in clear and straightforward terms, covers the topics in order to increase the awareness of what is being attempted and what can be achieved in clinical practice. The second edition contains two new chapters on aspheric surfaces and contact lens surface design. The remaining chapters have been extensively revised and updated with the addition of new material. The text features completely revised and extended computer program listings for the type of calculations that would otherwise be long and tedious. It is possible, for example, to quickly decide on what form of optic zone diameter and what front peripheral radius to order when a contact lens requires lenticulating. A computer disk which runs many of the lens calculation programmes is included with the book. The text is suitable reading for all undergraduate optometry students and it is also intended to extend the abilities of contact lens practitioners in coping with the problems of everyday contact lens fitting.
