Platelet-activating factor (PAF) has recently been put forward as a mediator of asthma exacerbation, capable of iniating protracted cellular inflammation. This book examines the chemistry, biochemistry, and biology of this novel material and considers the effect of existing anti-asthma drugs on responses to PAF to gain knowledge on the prospects for newer drugs in this field.
