Professor Alida Herbst is a registered social worker and director of the school of psychosocial behavioural sciences at the Potchefstroom campus of the North-West University. Her research focuses on the use of narrative to promote the psychosocial health of individuals, groups and communities. She has extensive experience as a social worker in public and private hospitals with expertise in trauma and bereavement counselling. Dr Gerda Reitsma is a senior lecturer in the faculty of health sciences at the Potchefstroom campus of the North-West University, where she is responsible for health science education. She is particularly committed to the development of teachers in higher education and the study of teaching and learning. Her pedagogical expertise has made a valuable contribution to the teaching and learning activities of this publication.
