The Anaesthetic Aide-Memoire is a compilation of lists and diagrams intended as a ready reference for senior anaesthetists in training and for consultants in anaesthesia. It is for reference when a fact, statistic, or formula eludes the memory, and an aid to teaching. It is not meant to be a definitive pocket textbook of anaesthesia. It covers lists, numerical data, physiological and pharmacological formulae, information on illnesses pertaining to anaesthesia, data on equipment, clinical measurement, and intensive care management. It is intended for anaesthetists who want to be reminded of a particular equation or formula prior to using it clinicallly, or asking a junior to produce it in a practice exam. It will also be useful for candidates for the FRCA examination who will already understand the physiology and pharmacology but who need their memory jogged on occasions.
