Caring for Adults with Mental Health Problems is a

and one that will challenge and encourage the student to develop a
questioning approach to care. The text is designed to be used as a
reference book by a variety of readers in either the clinical
setting, classroom or at home, in statutory or non-statutory
surroundings.
Ian Peate, Associate Head of School EN (G) RGN DipN (Lond) RNT BEd (Hons) MA (Lond) LLM Ian began his nursing career in 1981 at Central Middlesex Hospital, becoming an Enrolled Nurse working in an intensive care unit. He later undertook three years' student nurse training at Central Middlesex and Northwick Park Hospitals, becoming a Staff Nurse then a Charge Nurse. He has worked in nurse education since 1989. His key areas of interest are nursing practice and theory, sexual health and HIV/AIDS. He is currently Associate Head of School. His portfolio centres on recruitment and marketing and professional academic development within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Sonya Chelvanayagam, Senior Lecturer in Mental Health MSc PgDip (Learning and Teaching) RN Sonya qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 1985. She then trained as a Registered General Nurse. Sonya has worked in a range of different settings caring for individuals with a combination of physical symptoms and mental health problems. Most notably, she developed a mental health nurse service within a specialist mental health team for people attending HIV/GUM services. Sonya works as a Senior Lecturer in mental health at the University of Hertfordshire and as a Lecturer in the Burdett Institute of Gastrointestinal Nursing, King's College London.
