With an emphasis on clinical and functional relevance, this CD-ROM is an interactive database of head and neck anatomy. It is based on the resource of images, texts and interactive information from "McMinns's Interactive Clinical Anatomy".
This CD-ROM is a comprehensive, interactive databse of head and neck anatomy with an emphasis on clinical and functional relevance. It is based on the unique resource of images, text and interactive information from McMinn's Interactive Clinical Anatomy. The programme will provide a thorough course in clinical anatomy for those who need a thorough knowledge of the region. Produced by the developers of Interactive Skeleton, Imaging Atlas of Human Anatomy and McMinn's Interactive Clinical Anatomy, the effective interactive and navigational software developed for these programmes are used in this CD-ROM. All structures and features are interactively labelled using outlines around different structures. It is possible for the student to customise and label sets of these overlays to be printed out providing simple line drawings of the anatomy for revision. Video clips of surface anatomy are labelled to highlight the relevant features--nerve testing, muscle movement, surface location of important structures, vital to successful clinical diagnosis. Throughout the disc clinical notes are provided as text and voice-overs to explain all necessary, appropriate clinical applications.
The anatomy of key functions is illustrated by video clips and explained by animated graphics. For example, for the anatomy of reflexes the video clip shows the testing and examination of the reflexes and animated graphics are used to explain the accompanying nerve pathways. Dynamic micro-MRI are shown and used to display the internal anatomy of motion. This is a unique feature of the disc. There are interactive tests available for all stills, i.e. you can find a structure from the label name, or for any given highlighted structure find the right name from a list of options. In addition a series of applied core questions are incorporated. All tests include a score check. The programme also includes an authoring ability to allow the user to rearrange material in their preferred order and to add material for their own use. Features: * Complete computer database and course of head and neck anatomy. * Includes prosections, dissections, radiological images, surface anatomy and function testing videos, clinical photographs, histopathology--all interactively cross-referenced and labelled. * Includes all dissections from McMinn's Color Atlas of Head and Neck Anatomy.
* Outstanding functional and clinical notes emphasising relevance to clinical practice. * Interactive 3-D reconstruction displayed in the same manner as Interactive Skeleton. * Full muscle attachments and regions are included. * Authoring ability to allow new material to be added and reorganised so that the material can be customised for own use. * Zoom facility for close study and highlighting. * Video clips to illustrate key functions. * Animated graphics to explain key functions and pathways. * Surface anatomy video clips. * Self-testing programme with score check.
