Cytopathology (eBook)
XI, 478 Seiten
Springer London (Verlag)
978-1-4471-2419-1 (ISBN)
This succinct book guides the trainee through the hurdles of fledgling cytology practice and can also be used throughout the career as an aide memoire by the more experienced. Whilst there are several well established and excellent textbooks on general cytology, these are by and large reference books rather than bench books that can lie beside each individual trainee's microscope and be resourced continually before and during each case. With numerous illustrations to enthuse the reader and make cytological practice a more enjoyable and educational experience, the book also highlights points of diagnostic difficulty, particularly with regard to the differentiation of neoplastic from non-neoplastic disease.
This bench book will be an invaluable reference guide to histo- and cyto-pathology trainees as well as consultants who want a quick refresher/reference point.
Michael T. Sheaff is a Consultant Histocytopathologist at Barts Health NHS Trust and has been the lead clinician for cytology for over 10 years. He is also an honorary Professor in Diagnostic Pathology with Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. In addition to reporting the general gynecological and non-gynecological cytology work he has developed specialist interests in the fields of skin, colposcopy, renal and thoracic pathology (the latter including a particular interest in mesothelioma).
Naveena Singh is a Consultant Histo- and Cytopathologist at Barts Health NHS Trust with specialist interests in gynecological histopathology and cytology. In addition to routine cytology, gynecological and non-gynecological, she is one of a team of consultants who offer a rapid diagnostic service for symptomatic and screen-detected breast lesions at 'one-stop' clinics.
