Gregory Y.H. Lip, MD, MRCP, is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Birmingham and Consultant Cardiologist and Director of the Haemostasis Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Unit in the University Department of Medicine at City Hospital, Birmingham, UK. Professor Lip is Clinical Advisor to the Guideline Development Group, which produced the National Institute of Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE) National UK guidelines on the management of Atrial Fibrillation. His research interests are in atrial fibrillation, hypertension, heart failure, thrombosis and antithrombotic therapy and ethnic differences in vascular disease. He is a Nucleus Committee Member of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on 'Hypertension and the Heart'. He is Editor of the Journal of Human Hypertension and is on the editorial board of several major journals including Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Thrombosis Research.
