Psychological approaches are commonly used to understand and treat addictive disorders, in conjunction with, or separate from other therapeutic paradigms. This book focuses on psychological assessments and interventions and in doing so, presents a useful, coherent view of the field. Alex Copello is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Service Director for the Birmingham NHS Substance Misuse Services, the lead professional for the Trust Addiction Research and Development Programme and a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at The School of Psychology, University of Birmingham. His career has combined clinical and academic work in the addiction field.
