This book presents the extended abstracts of the 2022 International Conference: Multidisciplinary Aspects in Mathematics and its applications (ICMAM) Latin America conference. The book presents the current state of the art in Analysis and PDEs in Latin America. Topics include: PDE models describing epidemics, population dynamics, climatological risks, oil prospection, impedance tomography in the detection of medical diseases, and abstract theory of PDEs. The extended abstracts presented in this book includes contributions by several renowned mathematicians in analysis and PDEs.
Duvan Cardona is a Colombian mathematician. He was awarded the prestigious FWO Fellowship by the Belgian Research Foundation FWO to be an associate researcher at Ghent University in 2023. He completed his thesis, titled "Contributions to the Theory of Pseudo-Differential Operators: From Compact to Graded Lie Groups", under the supervision of Michael Ruzhansky (Ghent University) and Julio Delgado (Universidad del Valle). In 2024, he joined the board of ISAAC, the International Society for Analysis, its Applications, and Computation, becoming the youngest mathematician ever elected to the board of directors in ISAAC's history. Since 2022, he has held the position of Scientific Director of ICMAM Latin America. He has been a reviewer for Colombia's Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology since 2020. With around 90 publications, including three books, in Harmonic Analysis and PDEs, his contributions are extensive. He has also visited esteemed research institutes such as the Deusto Institute of Science and Technology in the Basque Country, Imperial College London, and UCLA, and the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics. His field of expertise covers several aspects of harmonic analysis and PDEs.
Brian Grajales is a Colombian mathematician and postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Scientific Computing at the University of Campinas in Brazil. His research interests span Differential Geometry and Lie Theory, with a particular emphasis on Riemannian Geometry on homogeneous spaces. As an active member of several research groups, including those at the State University of Campinas, the University of Pamplona, and the ICMAM Latin America, Brian Grajales has made significant contributions to the field. His work has been published in numerous high-impact journals, and he has been a frequent participant in international conferences and seminars, where he has shared his insights with the broader mathematical community. Between 2022 and 2024, he served as the president of ICMAM Latin America, and since 2024, he has taken on the role of Executive Director of this influential research organization.
