In various applications, we can meet boundary value problems for elliptic equations whose ellipticity is disturbed in the sense that some degeneration or singularity appears. This bad behavior can be caused by the coefficients of the corresponding differential operator as well as by the solution itself. Albo Carlos Cavalheiro studied mathematics at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and currently works at the Department of Mathematics at the State University of Londrina (Brazil). His main field of research is degenerate elliptic equations (linear and non-linear). He has published more than 60 articles in various scientific journals.
