This books reviews and brings readers up to date with the latest research knowledge on road traffic safety.

It describes and discusses mathematical descriptions of the process of a motor vehicle crash and indicates the various factors that impact on collision models. It tackles also vehicle stability and shows how the forces generated in crashes result in different extents of post-accident repair. Mathematical models that simulate vehicle stability data are compared with those of real vehicles. Practical uses of the models are explained to readers.

The book will be of interest to researchers in transport and vehicle technology well as automotive industry professionals.

Jerzy Kisilowski holds Ph.D., D.Sc., and Eng. and is a professor at the Faculty of Transport, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Technology and Humanities in Radom. He is the head of the doctoral study from 2011 to 2020 and director of the Transport Operation and Safety Center. He promoted 30 doctors and is the author of 350 scientific publications in Polish and English, including 28 scientific and design studies. He was born in Babice by the San. He graduated from general secondary school in Strzelno. He defended his Master's degree in Electronics Engineering at the Communication Department of the Warsaw University of Technology. While working at the Polytechnic, he obtained a doctorate in 1972, a postdoctoral degree in 1978, and a professor in 1984. He has lectured at many universities in Sweden, Germany, Great Britain, Mexico, China, the United States, and Australia. Scientifically, he deals with dynamics of mechanical systems, theory of stochastic processes, and theory of sensitivity. He was a member of the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the New York Academy of Sciences. During his 55 years of work at the university, he actively participated in economic life, holding managerial positions in public administration and managing medium and large economic entities. Jarosław Zalewski holds D.Sc., Ph.D., and Eng. in the field of construction and operation of machines. He was born in 1980 in Otwock. In 2005, he graduated from the Faculty of Transport of the Warsaw University of Technology. In the years 2006–2011, he worked at the Warsaw University of Technology and Business where he conducted didactic classes, research activities, and coordinated the organization of diploma exams and studies based on the e-learning platform. He also took part in promotional activities for the University. Since 2009, he has been working at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences of the Warsaw University of Technology where he conducts research and teaching activities closely related to road safety, mechanics, and transport. He also serves the administrative activities for the faculty. In 2011, he obtained a Ph.D. in technical sciences at the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. In 2020, he obtained the title of a Doctor of Science in the field of technical sciences. He is an associate professor at the Warsaw University of Technology and author or co-author of about 50 scientific publications, as well as reviews of articles and expert opinions. He has been a member of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from 2015 and a member of the Polish Association of Transport Telematics from 2017.
