AI and Digital Technology for Oil and Gas Fields
CRC Press (Verlag)
978-1-032-30989-7 (ISBN)
The book essentially covers the growing role of AI in the oil and gas industry, including digital technologies used in the exploration phase, customer sales service, and cloud-based digital storage of reservoir simulation data for modeling. It starts with the description of AI systems and their roles within the oil and gas industry, including the agent-based system, the impact of industrial IoT on business models, and the ethics of robotics in AI implementation. It discusses incorporating AI into operations, leading to the reduction of operating costs by localizing control functions, remote monitoring, and supervision.
Features of this book are given as follows:
It is an exclusive title on the application of AI and digital technology in the oil and gas industry
It explains cloud data management in reservoir simulation
It discusses intelligent oil and gas well completion in detail
It covers marketing aspects of oil and gas business during the exploration phase
It reviews development of digital systems for business purposes
This book is aimed at professionals in petroleum and chemical engineering, technology, and engineering management.
Niladri Kumar Mitra graduated in Petroleum Engineering from IIT-Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, in 1972. He is a performance-driven, self-motivated professional with proven leadership, administrative, managerial, and technical skills of over 50 years with ONGC, a major Indian national oil and gas company, Reliance Industries Limited, the largest private sector E&P company, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC), and McDermott. He is vastly acknowledged and credited for putting forward his acquired experience, expertise, wisdom, world view, emerging paradigms, and perspectives in its right earnest to ensure the best energy security for India and worldwide. He was the Director (Offshore) of ONGC Ltd., India, during the initial phase of Mumbai High Development. He is among the few frontrunners in interactive knowledge sharing and mentoring. He has chaired and steered many international and national conferences and has put forward many new technologies and paradigms for oil and gas industries through his technical articles, keynote addresses, and presentations. He introduced new cutting-edge technologies in the industry such as digital process control, intelligent well completion, intelligent platform, and hydrofracturing of high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) well. His first floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) at D1 was conceptualized, designed, and awarded. He was the Chief Operating Officer, GSPC E&P Group, looking after the Development of Deen Dayal Field (DD Field) in the KG offshore basin and he was overall accountable for the oil and gas field, one of the HPHT natural gas Deen Dayal Fields of the KG Basin. He led from the front in designing, construction, commissioning, and operation including designing of HT/HP wells for the first time in India. He served as President (E&P) of Accountabilities at Reliance Industries Limited. His role lies in giving the organization an edge at the offshore front by managing the roles and responsibilities of a complete vertical hierarchy of deepwater offshore assets, including looking after the development, drilling, and completion of D-6, MA field including sub-sea completion. He was the Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers for 7 years. He has authored Fundamentals of Floating Production System, Principle of Artificial Lift, One Mile in Oil and Gas, and Hydro Fracturing of HPHT Oil and Gas Well, which are acclaimed by the oil and gas industry and petroleum engineering institutes. He worked as an adjunct professor in IIT for 10 years.
