This book contains original research papers presented at the International Conference on Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing, held at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India, on 19-21 July 2018. Organized into 30 chapters, the book presents the recent progress and the most advanced innovations, trends, and real-world challenges encountered and solutions embraced in the applications of mathematics and scientific computing. The book will be of interests to a wide variety of researchers, students and the practicing engineers working in diverse areas of science and engineering, ranging from applied and computational mathematics, vibration problem, computer science, and numerical optimization to physics, chemistry, biology, electrical, civil, mechanical, chemical, seismology, aerospace, and medical sciences.

The aim of the conference is to bring together leading academicians, scientists, researchers, engineers, and industry partners from all over the globe to exchange and share their experiences and research results on various aspects of applied mathematics and scientific computation, like, differential equation, modeling, simulation, dynamical systems, numerical analysis, matrix theory, inverse problems, and solid and fluid mechanics, computational engineering.

SANTANU MANNA is Assistant Professor at the Discipline of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India. He earned his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, India, in 2015. He is the recipient of the Newton-Bhabha International Fellowship by The Royal Society of the United Kingdom and SERB, Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship by the University Grants Commission and the SERB-National Post Doctoral Fellowship (both by the Government of India). His research interests are in mathematical modelling, asymptotic analysis, and hyperbolic partial differential equations and their application in multi-field problems like wave propagation, solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, and mathematical seismology. He has published over 20 articles in various reputed journals.

BISWA NATH DATTA is a distinguished research professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Northern Illinois University, USA. He is a member of various distinguished organizations including the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, International Linear Algebra Society, SIAM Activity Group on Linear Algebra, SIAM Activity Group on Control, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He has published six books and over 110 papers in journals of repute. His research interests are numerical linear algebra, numerical analysis and scientific computing and applied and computational control and vibration engineering.

S. K. SAFIQUE AHMAD is Associate Professor at the Discipline of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Indore, India. He earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India, in 2008. After his thesis submission, he joined the SERC, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, as a research associate. He received the NBHM post-doctoral fellowship funded by the DAE and German postdoctoral fellowship. Professor Ahmad has worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Institute of Mathematics, Technical University Berlin, Germany, before joining IIT Indore. He is a member of various distinguished organizations including the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, GAMM ANLA and many more. His research interests include numerical linear algebra, quaternion linear algebra, inverse eigenvalue problems, and operator theory and applications. He has published around 15 papers in journals of repute.
