Macromedia ColdFusion is an application server and development product for building interactive, database-driven websites. The MX version is a major upgrade to version 5, offering new XML functionality as well as integration with the other Macromedia web products (Flash MX and Dreamweaver).
Macromedia ColdFusion is the leading application server and development product for building interactive, database-driven websites, with more than 1 million users. The new version, MX, is a major upgrade to version 5, offering new XML functionality as well as integration with the other Macromedia web products (Flash MX and Dreamweaver). For the first time, the product is built on Java 2 Enterprise Edition, for better performance, but users do not need to be Java programmers to use ColdFusion. ColdFusion's chief competitors are ASP, JSP, and PHP, but CF is easier to use and has gained significant market share.

Arman Danesh is an MIS manager responsible for developing ColdFusion applications. He has been working with the product since 1997. Raymond Camden is an engineer at Macromedia and a certified ColdFusion instructor. He has written articles for ColdFusion Developer's Journal.Guy Rish is an independent consultant and carries developer and instructor certifications from Macromedia and Rational.
