This is not only to expand the audience knowledge but also to attract new talents to this flourishing field. To that end, the book as a whole does not delve into much detail and most often suffices to provide some insight into the problem in hand. The primary users of the book will then be students in science and engineering in their final year of undergraduate studies or early years of their post-graduate programmes.

Mohsen Razavi is a faculty member at the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Leeds. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2006 before joining the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo in 2007. He organized and chaired the first International Workshop on Quantum Communication Networks in 2014 and is the Coordinator of the European Innovative Training Network which aims at providing quantum communications services to all users.
