This book highlights the interdisciplinary study of cognition, mind and behavior from an information processing perspective, and describes related applications to health informatics. The respective chapters address health problem-solving and education, decision support systems, user-centered interfaces, and the design and use of controlled medical terminologies. Reflecting cutting-edge research on computational methods - including theory, algorithms, numerical simulation, error and uncertainty analysis, and their applications - the book offers a valuable resource for doctoral students and researchers in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering.
Dr. Raghu has authored many books and hundreds of research articles in the areas of Business, Management and Computer Information Systems. In addition to being an active leader in the information technology (IT) industry, Raghu has served as the Commissioner for Higher Education with the State of South Carolina, US. He has been a tremendous catalyst for industry-academia collaboration, helping bring relevant and next-generation solutions to the market. Raghu is passionate about higher education, and believes that it transforms people. He is a living example of this belief, himself holding multiple graduate and doctorate degrees in Computer Information Systems, Commerce and Management, along with several insurance industry certifications.
Dr. Ch. Divakar has extensive expertise in the areas of Database Management Systems, Information Technology and Numerical Methods, Data Mining & Data Warehousing, Computer Architectures and Organization, and Artificial Intelligence. He worked as the Dean of the Centre for Development and Maintenance Cell, Research and Development. Dr. Ch. Divakar has a number of publications in international journals and conferences to his credit, and is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, the IEEE Computer Society, and the Computer Society of India. Dr. G. Lavanya Devi is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, Andhra University, India. She has over 16 years of experience in academia and research. Dr. Lavanya has graduated with a degree in Engineering from Nagarjuna University and pursued her Master's in Computer Science Engineering at Andhra University. She received her PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad for her work in the area of Data Mining and Bioinformatics. Passionate about teaching and research alike, Dr. Lavanya has worked for various engineering institutions with various designations. She has published more than 90 research articles in the areas of Data Mining, Computational Intelligence and Bioinformatics in various journals and national/international conferences. Her research focuses on mining and modeling massive volumes of data, as well as real-time intelligent systems that operate in multidisciplinary environments to solve real-world problems. Her other interests include Medical Data Analysis for building prediction systems for Medical Diagnosis, and Web Recommender Systems. This book highlights the interdisciplinary study of cognition, mind and behavior from an information processing perspective, and describes related applications to health informatics.
