About our authors Julie E. Kendall, PhD., is a Professor of Management in the School of Business-Camden, Rutgers University. She was inducted into the PhD Project Hall of Fame in 2016 for her 20 years of volunteer work mentoring minority doctoral candidates to publish research in information systems. Dr. Kendall is a fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) and a Past Chair of IFIP Working Group 8.2. She was awarded the Silver Core from IFIP. She served as Treasurer and Vice President at Large for DSI. Julie was elected internationally and served two terms as the Vice President of SIGs, Chapters, & Colleges for the Association for Information Systems. Professor Kendall has published in Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Information & Management, CAIS, DSJIE, EJIS, Organization Studies, JITTA and many other journals. She has twice served as a keynote speaker, once for the qualitative research methods conference, QualIT in Brisbane, Australia, and for the IFIP WG8.2 conference on social inclusion and IT in Limerick, Ireland. Dr. Kendall is currently an Associate Editor for CAIS and a Preeminent Editor for The Data Base for Advances in Information Systems and has served on the Editorial Board of the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education (DSJIE) since its inception. She served as Associate Editor and Guest Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly and the Functional Editor for MIS for Interfaces. Professor Kendall is a co-author of the text Systems Analysis and Design, 10th edition, published by Pearson. It is used worldwide and has been translated into Spanish, Chinese, Indonesian, and developed as a special edition for the Indian subcontinent. Dr. Kendall's research interests include developing qualitative tools for systems analysts, researching web presence for nonprofit organizations, including Off-Broadway theatres, and studying corporate participation in open source communities. Julie's outside interests include Broadway and off-Broadway theatre as well as opera, which she enjoys with her spouse and co-author Ken Kendall. Julie and Ken have written new official lyrics to the Rutgers Alma Mater, sung annually at commencement ceremonies. Kenneth E. Kendall, Ph. D., is a Distinguished Professor of Management in the School of Business-Camden, Rutgers University. He is one of the founders of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) and a Fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI). He was inducted into the PhD Project Hall of Fame in 2016 for his 20 years of volunteer work mentoring minority doctoral to publish research in information systems. He is a past President of DSI. Dr. Kendall has been named as one of the top 60 most productive MIS researchers in the world, and he was awarded the Silver Core from IFIP. He was named to the inaugural Circle of Compadres of the PhD Project. Ken was named as the Educator of the Year in IS for 2010 by the Association for Information Technology Professionals. Ken has published his research in Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Management Science, EJIS, CAIS, DSS, Information & Management, DSJIE and many other leading journals. He recently co-authored a text, Systems Analysis and Design, 10th edition, published by Pearson. Ken edited Emerging Information Technologies: Improving Decisions, Cooperation, and Infrastructure for Sage Publications. Dr. Kendall is a past Chair of IFIP Working Group 8.2. He has served as an Associate Editor for Decision Sciences and the Information Resources Management Journal. He currently serves on the editorial boards of several journals including Information Technology for Development and the Information Systems Journal. He is a Section Editor for the Australasian Journal of Information Systems. Ken served as Program Co-Chair for AMCIS 2009 in San Francisco. Professor Kendall's research focuses on studying emerging technologies, open source software development, IT project management, and developing new tools for systems analysis and design. Ken is Chairman Emeritus of the Board of EgoPo, a nonprofit professional theatre in Philadelphia dedicated to presenting classics on the edge, which won a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Overall Production of a Play in 2017. Ken and his co-author and spouse, Julie, served as official nominators for the Drama League Awards in Manhattan.
