The Against the Clock series is ideal for any course that includes graphic arts software and computer design software as part of the curriculum. Courses can be found in Office Information Systems, Computer Science, and Fine Arts Departments, as well as Continuing Education, Journalism, and Printing and Lithography.
QuarkXPress, the world's most popular page layout program, has evolved from its humble beginnings to take its place as the most powerful and robust composition tool anywhere. This introduction to the program seeks to provide a solid foundation by presenting the skills necessary to master this complex tool. Starting with the working environment, the book moves on to using type and graphics, controlling page elements, working with color, and more.
Erika Kendra lives in Los Angeles, where she operates under the guise of The Right Brain. She has been editing and designing books for the printing and graphic-design communities for five years, and provides desktop-publishing and digital-prepress consulting and training for the printing industry. Erika has been working with Against The Clock for two years. She is the co-author of the Design Companion for the Digital Artist, and the author of Preflight and File Preparation, and Adobe PageMaker: Creating Electronic Documents, all of which are part of the Against The Clock series. When she isn't being manipulated by her cats, she can usually be found reading archaic literature, attending Renaissance festivals, or enjoying the southern California sun. She earned a BA in History and a BA in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh.
