ActivStats for Excel (Windows and Macintosh) provides an introductory statistics course on CD-ROM using the full potential of multimedia. It is particularly well-suited for a business statistics course, or any introductory statistics course using Excel®. The CD-ROM integrates video, simulation, animation, narration, text, pictures, interactive experiments, and Web access into a rich learning environment. ActivStats for Excel includes DDXL, a statistics and graphics add-in that extends Excel's interactive graphics and statistics functionality. Students reinforce new skills by analyzing real-world data. Data analysis activities offer a choice of native Excel commands or the DDXL add-in.ActivStats for Excel provides step-by-step narrated instructions and then links directly to Excel. Excel must be purchased and installed separately.

By using ActivStats for Excel, students develop a sound understanding of statistical concepts and methods. The CD-ROM follows a course scope and sequence consistent with the ASA/MAA guidelines for teaching introductory statistics and the Advanced Placement Statistics Course. ActivStats for Excel is designed to accompany any statistics text, even offering the option of alternate topic orders to match the most common textbook sequences. It can also be used as a source of laboratory activities, as a personal study guide, or as the core of a self-paced or distance learning course. Instructor extensions can be added to each page to tailor the material to students' particular needs.
