This book offers detailed installation instructions for DotNetNuke, Visual Web Developer, and SQL Server 2005, plus tutorials on creating and publishing ASP.NET 2.0 websites written in Visual Basic 2005, without excluding non-programmers who will use the book.
DotNetNuke is a programming framework that helps you create and deploy web projects in ASP.NET 2.0. Its ease of use means that even non-programmers can take advantage of the ASP.NET 2.0 features when building a web site. It integrates with many of Microsoft's other free products, like SQL Server 2005 Express, which makes it a powerful and attractive option for developing web sites.

Beginning DotNetNuke 4.0 Website Creation in VB 2005 with Visual Web Developer 2005 Express contains detailed instructions for the installation of DotNetNuke, Visual Web Developer, and SQL Server 2005. This ensures that no matter what your level or ability, you'll have a working suite of tools as you work through the book and your ASP.NET 2.0 career. The book also features tutorials on creating and publishing an ASP.NET 2.0 web site written in Visual Basic 2005—taking care not to exclude anyone who's utilizing this book strictly to get up to speed on DotNetNuke.

Nick Symmonds works for the Integrated System Solutions division of Ingersoll-Rand, developing and integrating security software. He started his professional life as an electronics technician. While getting his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hartford, he started to gravitate toward programming. Nick has spent quite a few years programming in assembly, C, C++, and Visual Basic. Recently, he has latched onto .NET like a lamprey and loves digging into the .NET core. Nick has written several articles on programming and has three books out: Internationalization and Localization Using Microsoft .NET (Apress, 2002), GDI+ Programming in C# and VB .NET (Apress, 2002), and Data Entry and Validation with C# and VB .NET Windows Forms (Apress, 2003). He lives with his family in the northwest hills of Connecticut and has recently become addicted to golf and road cycling. He also enjoys woodworking, hiking, and exploring the hills on his motorcycle.
