Chapter 3.
Seeds of Evil

April 5th, 1883

Washington DC

(One month prior)

He sat at his desk in a dark and dank office, the weight of his responsibilities pressing down on him. His head rested in his hands, and his long, flowing blonde hair cascaded between his fingers, creating a veil of golden strands. Behind his smoke-colored glasses, his eyes, tired and heavy-lidded, peered out with a hint of weariness.

With a labored breath, he straightened up in his chair, adjusting his meticulously tailored suit, ensuring every crease and fold fell just right. In a swift motion, he flicked his luxurious hair over his shoulder, a minor act of self-assurance, before he reached for the Stetson that was resting on his desk. Placing it back on his head, he readied himself for what lay ahead.

The stress etched on his furrowed brow was an unmistakable sign of the burdens he carried. Day after day, he manipulated and guided those who possessed the spark or glow of evil. It was a relentless task that took a toll, and the wear and tear revealed itself on his weary face.

Dealing with some recruits was relatively straightforward, sign the dotted line, gain power and immortality, and obey the boss’s every command. There were other obligations as well, like protecting the boss and avoiding detection when necessary. However, the cardinal rule was never attempted to back out of a deal once your blood sealed the pact. The fine print, hidden within the contract, clearly warned of the dire consequences awaiting those who dared betray the boss. Regardless of the path chosen, one’s soul inevitably belonged to him.

On the surface, the rules may have seemed simple, but there was always that one foolhardy individual who believed they could defy the odds. Just last year, Charles Guiteau paid the ultimate price for breaking the code of loyalty. His task was simple: to kill President James A. Garfield and deliver his heart to Baal. Yet Guiteau’s misplaced confidence led him down a treacherous path. Instead of remaining vigilant, he sought refuge with a group of religious extremists known as the Oneida Community.

This community, filled with deluded individuals who embraced free love and unabashed promiscuity, held the audacious belief that the son of God walked among them. Monogamy was an outdated notion, replaced by a philosophy of consenting encounters with whomever one desired. Guiteau sought solace in this peculiar haven, indulging in as much pleasure as possible before his inevitable reckoning with the Devil. Little did he know that the blood he spilled marked him, allowing Baal to track him down relentlessly.

It didn’t take long for the boss to locate him, employing one of his minions to masquerade as a lawman. Guiteau’s capture was swift, and he was sentenced to death for his crime. On paper, he was executed for assassinating the president. However, the reality was far grimmer; he had been condemned for betraying Baal. His soul had been forfeited, and his body having later been claimed by a lesser demon, destined to be transformed into a fearsome hell hound.

Adding a chilling touch to this tale, Baal himself relished the opportunity to act as Guiteau’s executioner. Just moments before pulling the trapdoor, he whispered haunting words that still reverberated through Guiteau’s mind, a reminder of the consequences that befall those who dare to cross him.

“Heeey Chuck, I told you I would get that sweet soul of yours. Soon you will roast over a spit for all eternity, while my demons baste you for occasional consumption. You can watch while I rape your mother in every way, shape, and form!”

He grinned while reminiscing that his promise stood true; he made a trip now and then to the cellar, as he called it, to slice off a piece of the coward, eat it with a lovely wine reduction, and then have his sick and twisted way with mother Guiteau.

To be totally honest, Charles Guiteau’s mother was not available for Baal to rape, so using his special connections, he fooled Chuck into believing the horror that was displayed. After all, he was a demon from hell, guiding the lesser sixty-six legions while trying in every way to impregnate a virgin with the future Anti-Christ. God made the last move in this game of chess; knocked up Mary. There was a bouncing baby boy, who sacrificed himself for the sins of all, blah blah blah bullshit.

This turned out to be tougher than anticipated. Women, like men, historically have been bald-faced liars. The consensus was that if they let some guy stick it in a little, that it didn’t count.

That was just considering that a woman, been the first one tricked by Baal’s boss, Lucifer, into biting the fruit of truth and knowledge. Afterwards, lying to Adam about the entire event, not even realizing she would be the inventor of peer pressure.

With Adam looking like a total dumbass, like most men, doing whatever Eve said, like most men, and not asking questions, look what that got them. When they got booted out of paradise with the gate locked forever behind them, maybe then they would have seen the error of their ways. By the way, this took a piece off the board for Satan. It’s your move, big guy.

Now the consensus being this; Baal’s move. Pick a woman and plant your damned seeds. The actual act of sex is utterly boring to him, mostly because he uses it for torturing his damned souls. To actually “do it” without hurting someone disgusted him, so he imbued a cadre of his soldiers with his potency and this task. It was like a shotgun going off in a crowd of people; you got more coverage, causing more damage, so to speak.

His soldiers couldn’t let the truth of virginity stop them; the horny bastards still screwed anything with a pussy and a pulse! Of course, this caused some problems; Satan hasn’t gotten his Anti-Christ yet. Instead, he was the father of a plethora of evil leaders all throughout time. All of which having been spawned by this sinister squadron of virgin seekers.

Satan wasn’t happy with the repeated failures in creating his Anti-Christ, not at all. Though creating so many evil offspring to torment the living was a small bonus, not to mention a wide range of nasty killers and rapists. These were brownie points that kept Baal’s nuts off the chopping block; he might not have used them that much, but he was pretty attached to them.

They were to be sons; no girls could be allowed to live. This was Satan’s law, so it was abided by with the utmost strictness, no questions asked. Nine months after conception, the soldier would return to view the birth of his handy work; if he saw a boy then he left, if he saw a girl, he killed her and the mother.

This led to another matter of concern for Baal; the unknown soldiers of God, they walked among us just as the soldiers of Baal did, and just as the soldiers of Baal, no one knew who they were or what they looked like. In his infinite wisdom, Baal laid an exceptional plan into play that would flush out the losers.

Going off experiences and using the adage that history would repeat itself; Baal set in motion several plots to assassinate key political leaders. This way, he could spot the soldier or soldiers of God. With an assassination attempt of an important God-fearing political figure, a hero would emerge and defend them with their life. When Baal set John W. Boothe on Lincoln, he was disappointed; not one of Lincoln’s men stepped up to stop Booth, very disappointing. He had to bide his time, waiting for just the right moment to make another attempt; his moment arrived when he met Charles Guiteau, an arrogant self-absorbed fool... perfect! This idiot has some political issues with President Garfield that could play in Baal’s favor without fail.

With the contract drawn up, it was designed with the sole intent to trick Guiteau into an assassination attempt; whether the president died was the least of his concerns. He just wanted to draw out the soldier; nothing else mattered. With the soldier exposed, he could kill him or her and use that blood to help him locate the other soldiers. Blood: not just being thicker than water, it also has properties in it given by Jehovah.

These properties allowed any supernatural creature such as Baal the power to find any of the chosen soldiers with but a simple incantation. Much in the same way that God could hear Abel’s blood scream to him after Cain murdered him. Baal figured out this little trick and planned to exploit it to the full extent, killing the chosen soldiers without a single afterthought.

Now it looked as though he might have found the soldier that would lead him to the proverbial Promised Land. Guiteau’s screw up finally produced fruit; there was one who tried to save the President during the assassination, Nicholas Lightfeather. Even though he failed, he still was held in high regards for his work by the new President.

He seemed like any other Secret Service Agent; strait-laced and anal-retentive, with a huge stick up his butt. Other than being a half-breed, which was not something you wanted to be currently, he was utterly boring. Something still didn’t ring right with him; he always disappeared every Sunday, then once a year, he was gone...
