Prince Michal the Archangel was called away by Jehovah from his army so could watch over a special girl, an enigma whose life will change the lives of many with her pure, bright light. A diamond in the rough. What Michael didn't realize when he first saw the girl was how much he would come to love her. Michael fights for her as Satan himself throws many darts as he has sought out to destroy her.

Chapter 6

Daniel lived a four-hour drive south from Melton, where their parents lived. After two days, Daniel brought Melina to an all-day and evening going away party for Jaina, a short, ethnic female friend of his. She was moving to South Amia. The 10 invitees started the get-together at 1:00 p.m. by playing soccer, which Melina watched. Then they went indoor rock climbing at 3:00. As she was climbing, Melina was so fast that Jaina, an accomplished climber, called her a little spider monkey. She naturally found places to grip, and niches to balance her feet on, as she quickly ascended the 30-foot rubber wall. Next, the group went swimming in an invitee’s backyard swimming pool at 5:30, then socialized inside the house while they watched a movie, and ate pizza and chips. The movie was about a man looking for clues that eventually lead him to treasure. But there ended up being a lot of twists and turns that he never fathomed would ever take place. Melina was energized by the end of the evening, and Michael was happy that she had such a marvellously fun day, as he could see her glowing.

Two days later, Daniel showed Melina a letter that his friend had found online, which, once she read it, she knew was meant for her. Part of the letter read, “You just keep looking off and away to me, following me and my laws, and in the right time, I will surprise you with a love far greater love than anything you’ve ever imagined.” And it was signed, “from your heavenly father.”

Melina was absolutely enthralled with the letter, and took it seriously by trying to put God first. She read it often, since then. She also kept her eyes out for the right man, while trying to wait on God to send him to her.

Melina moved in with her parents in Melton, in the beginning of June, after she had left her brother’s place, and immediately started looking for a job and her own place. She remembered that she had to live God’s way in order to find this love of her life, and to be close to God. So she attended church every Sunday morning, read books about Him, foremost His Holy Book, and prayed often.

After living in Melton for a month, and trying to live God’s way, in the end of June, Melina dreamed up the new man who she wanted to marry. He had a charming personality, with shaved, but dark brown hair, glinting baby blue eyes, a waist-length, black leather jacket, and a large, black, rough looking motorcycle with a black, cushy passenger seat.

Melina recalled the picture her mother showed her of her sitting on her dad’s blue motorcycle when she was almost two. She also recalled when her mother adoringly told her how she would frequently trek to the back of her house to climb up on the bike and rock back and forth on it as if she was riding it.

When Melina’s father invited her and her mother to a work barbecue, at the house of one of his master corporals’, in the end of August, he seemed concerned when her mom joked:

“Melina, maybe you’ll find a husband there.”

They were all sitting at the long, rectangular, oak dining room table in the small dining room, with a wine-colored tablecloth on it, eating her mom’s delicious dish of chicken potpie, made with biscuits.

Melina laughed, and said:

“Don’t worry dad, the only man I want…” and described her man to him.

Then he looked even more concerned, which piqued Melina’s curiosity, as she took another delicious bite of her supper.

On Sunday, when they arrived at 45-year-old and grey-haired Master Corporal Dan Bennet’s house, Melina was amused when she saw, at the side of the pastel blue house, the exact kind of motorbike that she had imagined. Then, she was mystified when she walked around the corner of the house and saw the exact man she had dreamed of sitting at the glass patio table on the dark-wooden patio at the side of the house.

MCpl Bennet greeted them as soon as they came into view:

“Hi. Nice to see you all. We can throw some steaks on whenever you’re ready. The side orders are already on the table.”

Melina, furtively, walked straight to the chair beside the man she seemed to have dreamt into reality.

“Have a seat,” he said when she got there, with a warm smile and a thick Frankish accent.

Melina was already caught up with Sylvain’s thick, Francish eyes.

As she sat down, he said, “My name’s Sylvain. I work for your dad as a first aid instructor. But my trade is an air traffic controller.”

“Oh, nice to meet you. I’m Melina. I just finished college in April, so now I’m looking for work.”

Then she added, “I was just working in Giant Valley, as a housekeeper, but the work hurt my back.”

“Giant Valley,” Sylvain said, fascinated. “You must have enjoyed being there.”

“Yes,” Melina affirmed. “Living in the midst of the mountains was enchanting.”

“And I had two amusing adventures there,” she added.

Then Melina proceeded to tell Sylvain about her horseback riding excursion, and then her mountain climbing expedition.

As they were chatting and eating their steaks, Sylvain continued to charm Melina, and she was even more in love with him than she had been with Devin, with a euphoric deep-soul connection that she felt when she looked into his sparkling eyes.

“So, how do you like working as a fist aid instructor?” Melina asked. Melina was so immersed with Sylvain that she forgot about all surroundings, including the other attendants at the barbecue.

“Well,” Sylvain said. “It’s a nice break from the stress of being an air traffic controller. And I still get to work with people, just in a more direct way. And I find it fun to teach. But I still go visit the air traffic control tower every week, to say hi to the guys and have coffee.”

When it was time to go, Melina was too shy to ask Sylvain for his phone number. But she figured it was too soon anyway, and she knew where to find him.

The next Tuesday, when her mom conveyed to her that her dad told her that Sylvain was holding a moving sale in his house on Saturday, Melina figured that would be the perfect time to ask him to take her on a ride on his motorbike. She had always wanted to go for a ride on one, plus that would give her a chance to get to know Sylvain better.

On Saturday afternoon, Melina and Jocelyn went to Sylvain’s sale. Melina was happy that she had the excuse that she actually did need some items for the apartment that she would soon be moving into, once she found a suitable one. When Melina and her mom got there, Sylvain was very cordial.

“Hi, nice to see you,” he greeted them in his appealing Frankish accent. “Follow me, and I’ll show you what I have.”

He escorted them throughout his house, showing them random items in several rooms, including the basement.

At his sale, Melina found Sylvain to be cozily warm toward her. While at his house, Melina bought a tripod for her 35-millimeter camera that she got when she started college, and still used, a microwave, and some flowery, white, pastel pink, green and blue, silver-lined dishes. As well, he gave her, for free, a poster-sized bristle board picture of a black panther, some small, brightly decorated glasses, over 10 assorted mugs, a full set of cream-colored, orange and black floral dishes, and some utensils.

When they entered Sylvain’s basement, Jocelyn was ecstatic when she saw his great quality, thick, black leather couch and matching rocking recliner.

“Are those for sale?” she asked, pointing at them.

“Yes they are,” Sylvain answered, with a smile.

“Then I’ll buy them!” Jocelyn said, instantly, as she needed furniture for her finished basement, in the house she and Alain had just bought and moved into in mid-April.

“They’re yours for $2,000,” said Sylvain, with a big smile.” “They’re worth just over $4,000, together, before taxes.”

“Oh, thank you,” Jocelyn replied, exuberantly.

“That’s a decent price.”

Then they made arrangements for Jocelyn to pick up her treasured couch and rocking recliner.

After they had climbed the cement stairs into the kitchen, Melina and Jocelyn chatted briefly with Sylvain, before going on their way.

Before they left, Melina piped up:

“Sylvain, I saw your motorbike. It’s impressive,”

“Thank you,” Sylvain responded.

Then she asked, nervously, “I’ve always wanted to go for a motorbike ride. Could you take me some time?”

“Sure,” he said, sunnily.

“If you give me your number, I’ll give you a call when I find a good time.”

“Super,” said Melina, gleaming, as Jocelyn left to go wait in her car. “Thank you.”

Then Melina took out the small pad of paper, watermarked with a white tiger, and white pen, with black stripes, that she had in her purse, jotted down her name and her cell phone number on it, then ripped off the piece of paper she had written on. When she was done, she gave it to Sylvain with a cheery smile. He smiled, with half a smirk, when he saw the tiger stationary....
