Pongo Twistleton is in a state of financial embarrassment and it's not for the first time. PG Wodehouse was created a Knight of the British Empire in 1975, and died on St Valentine's Day in the same year at the age of ninety-three. His books are published in every language, and have been frequently adapted for radio and television. He is the greatest comic writer of the twentieth century.
