Using the concept of «inbetweenness», this book reconceptualizes the central aspects of Chekhov’s style, from his use of language to the origins of his artistic worldview. Radislav Lapushin offers a fresh interpretive framework for the analysis of Chekhov’s individual works and his œuvre as a whole.

Radislav Lapushin is Assistant Professor of Russian Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. He is the author of numerous scholarly publications on Chekhov, both in Russian and English, and of several volumes of poetry.
