Looks at make-up and hairstyles from the ancient Egyptians through to the Elizabethans and on to punk in the 1970s. This book gives advice on how to create each look for men and women with specific details for white, Hispanic, Chinese, black and Asian skin types.
Period productions on stage, television and film are increasingly popular - authentic make-up is key. "Period Make-up" is an informative, easy to follow, step-by-step guide to basic stage make-up for men and women. Clearly illustrated for white, Hispanic, Chinese, black and Asian skins, instructions are given on how to create each look: from Ancient Egyptian, to the changing styles of the Restoration era and Victorian haute couture, to the flapper-style of the 1920s and punk-rockers of the late 1970s. Each section includes make-up ideas and detailed illustrations of certain areas of the face. The opening section of the book provides a complete listing of supplies needed and tips on corrective make-up, scar and special effects tips. This is a must for any actor wanting to create an authentic look from the past.
