A first look at the “total work of art” developed by artist Lap-See Lam with Kholod Hawash and Tze Yeung Ho for the Nordic Countries Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale.
The Nordic Countries Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale will be turned into a dragon ship filled with mythological water creatures in search of their roots. In collaboration with the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Lap-See Lam, Kholod Hawash (Finland) and composer Tze Yeung Ho (Norway) will be presenting “The Altersea Opera”: an experimental opera, an audio-visual adventure about being in a state of loss and longing, the mutability of myth and connecting through multilingualism. In dreamlike images by photographer Mai Nestor, the readers of this book will follow the preparations of the project, before the “ship” lands in Venice.
Ed.: Asrin Haidari, Lap-See Lam. Vorwort: Gitte Ørskou, Leevi Haapala, Ruben Steinum. Einleitung: Asrin Haidari.
Text: Wong Binghao (Bing), Maya Abdullah in conversation with Lap-See Lam, Kholod Hawash and Tze Yeung Ho.
