• Experimental artist and curator for thirty-five years
• Sculptures as interrogations of the space they occupy
This monograph presents Kaldahl's experimental work with sculpture in clay. His compositiosn and materialisations are an intuitive improvisation as a direct, yet subtle response to material and spatial qualities. Kaldahl has worked with a myriad of spatial themes and ornaments that frequently reoccur in his formal vocabulary, and which emerge through a methodical, gradual and experimental serial process.Featuring the work with an introductory essay by Brooklyn based curator, writer and historian Glenn Adamson, a contextualising text by Copenhagen based writer, and curator Jorunn Veiteberg on connections to contemporary, and historical developments within ceramic practices in fine art and craft. Further, in distinctly activating statements Kaldahl's own voice is also present in the publication.
Martin Bodilsen Kaldahl (Danish, born 1954) is a ceramic artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Kaldahl is well renowned for his creative ways with 35 years of exhibiting and curating in Los Angeles, New York, Amsterdam, Saint Petersburg, Milan, Munich, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, London, Oslo, and Copenhagen.
