This title profiles some of the world's most exciting horseback safaris, guiding prospective riders to adventures on five continents.
Great Horse Treks of the World is a book to inspire and to trigger the reader's longing for adventure. It's about getting into a saddle; of turning dreams into reality, a written and visual exploration of some of the world's most magnificent and remote destinations, experienced on the back of one of man's most beloved four-legged friends, the horse. Think of a magnificent location, and chances are you can visit on an extended horseback trek. From the shores of Costa Rica to the rolling wilderness of Australia's Snowy Mountains, you can see it all from the comfort (or otherwise!) of the saddle! Be entranced as you ride with a herd of giraffe in Botswana's Okavango Delta; follow the bridle paths walked by saints and sinners in medieval Italy; or join other City Slickers on a cattle drive in the heart of Wyoming. This is an evocative book focusing on cultural diversity, on fascinating history and tradition, on magnificent creatures and on awesome scenery. The book is intended to inspire and motivate, to encourage readers to experience the joy of horseback exploration for themselves.

Author Julie Miller has enjoyed a successful career as a television producer, working on top-rated Australian productions such as 'The Great Outdoors', 'Australian Survivor' and 'Changing Rooms'. She has also forged a career as a freelance journalist, specializing in travel, for publications such as Vacations and Harpers Bazaar. A mid-life crisis took Julie back to her one true love - horses. She began weekly dressage lessons and starting working towards the one thing that had eluded her - horse ownership. She successfully combines both career and hobby by exploring some of the most beautiful and remote parts of the world on horseback. UK Consultant Bernadette Faurie, one of the world's leading equestrian writers, was voted Journalist of the Year for 1997 by the International Trainers' Club. She has authored several books and is a regular commentator on major equestrian events for television and radio. US Consultant Mary Kay Kinnish worked as Editorial Director of Primedia Equine Group, advising the editors of Dressage Today and EQUUS, until 2001. She currently works as a Freelance Editor on feature articles for these magazines.
