Roger Crittenden reveals the experiences of many of the greatest living European film editors through his warm and perceptive interviews which offer a unique insight into the art of editing - direct from masters of the craft.

In their interviews the editors relate their experience to the directors they have worked with, including:

Agnes Guillemot- (Godard, Truffaut, Catherine Breillat)
Roberto Perpignani- (Welles, Bertolucci, Tavianni Brothers)
Sylvia Ingemarsson- (Ingmar Bergman)
Michal Leszczylowski- (Andrei Tarkovsky, Lukas Moodysson)
Tony Lawson (Nic Roeg, Stanley Kubrick, Neil Jordan)
and many more.

Foreword by Walter Murch - three-time Oscar-winning Editor of 'Apocalypse Now', 'The English Patient', 'American Graffiti', 'The Conversation' and 'The Godfather Part II and III'.

Roger Crittenden started his career at the National Film and Television School as Head of Editing, whilst continuing to edit films and documentaries. While with the NFTS he taught in Moscow, Mexico, Manilla, Copenhagen and Cuba. He has also lectured at the Royal College of Art and The Northern Film School in the UK. He has served on the Arts Council Films Committee, The Scottish Film Production Fund and The Scottish Film Training Trust and is a member of BAFTA. He is currently a review editor and on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Media practice as well as the board for the Executive Committee of The Association of Media Practice Educators. He has enjoyed a distinguished career in the cutting rooms and has many films to his credit. He was given an award for `Sustained Excellence as Film Editor' at the BBC.
