The book presents exemplary models of heritage management in World Heritage properties–an issue not treated in depth up to now and Best Practices in this management. Therefore, this volume becomes a new, original source presenting model strategies to be followed by other initiatives in order to improve the consideration and treatment of the most outstanding valued sites considered by UNESCO.
Dr. Castillo is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in the Prehistory Department. She is a member the Scientific Committee of Archaeological Heritage Management (ICAHM- ICOMOS). Her research lines include Archaeological Heritage: Preventive Archaeology, ITC, Architectural Heritage and World Heritage. She has been leading the Project “The Treatment of Archaeological Properties in the World Heritage Cities of the European Union & Hispanic America” for the past four years. She continues working on these same researches with other projects in the geographical area of study and with the focus in social perceptions, participations process and conflicts in the Cultural Heritage management context.
