Actors and actresses need a constant supply of fresh and exciting audition speeches. When applying to drama school or university, or for theatre, film and television roles, good, origins speeches from plays are needed for the audition. Each of these books has fifty parts chosen from established and new playwrights, many of which are being used for the first time in an audition book. The pieces require a particular accent or dialect and include speeches for Asian, Italian, South African, American, Jamaican, Irish, Liverpudlian, Yorkshire, Newcastle and Welsh parts. Both books also cover parts for a broad age range. Each audition piece is reproduced in full together with details of the first performance of the play. A number of specialists including agents and the head of a drama school have contributed to an introductory section on how to audition successfully. AUTHOR: Jean Marlow is a Speech and Drama trained teacher who qualified at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is also an actress and writer with many years experience in theatre, film and television. She runs the Actors' Theatre School in London.
KEY SELLING POINTS: contains new audition material not available in any other audition books; wide-ranging, original selection from new and older plays; provides good speeches for ethnic minorities; includes contrasting parts for British and American actors who want to use a dialect or accent; competitively priced.
