“Lauterbach’s tribute . . . is welcome and overdue.” —Jonathan Yardley, Washington Post

Now, music journalist Preston Lauterbach combines terrific firsthand reportage with deep historical research to offer a groundbreaking account of the birth of rock 'n' roll in black America.
