In a world where your genetics can get you imprisoned, Cam is terrified of being labelled as ‘defective’. Rescued by an undercover organisation, she must figure out who to trust.
“Goodness in Purity. Goodness in Life. Report Difference!”

In a world where the Diversity Commission imprisons anyone deemed genetically ‘defective,’ 15-year-old Cam narrowly escapes capture, finding sanctuary with a secret organisation who dispute the Commission’s oppressive Purity Laws. There, she meets Tom, a fellow escapee, and begins to understand why the Commission hunts down anyone considered ‘different’.

‘Defective’ is only one way of describing her genes.

Supernatural is another.

But with her new allies harbouring dangerous secrets, Cam struggles to determine who she can trust…

Tracy Todd is an accomplished writer and author, having dabbled in everything from short stories to business books. With a series of published short stories and novels, her work has also featured in Indigo Dreams, Hammond House and Mslexia. One of her novels was longlisted for Mslexia’s Novel Competition, and the first draft of The Apex Agenda was well received by the Penguin Random House Write Now Competition. From a pool of 1,700 applicants, Tracy was one of the 150 writers invited to attend a workshop in Nottingham. Currently, she is working on The Apex Agenda TV script with co-writer D. Scott-Jones. Outside of writing, Tracy runs a non-profit social enterprise, The Equality Practice, which promotes the idea that everyone, independent of their gender, age, background or personal circumstances, should have the opportunity to thrive and live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful to them. Since 2016, The Equality Practice has worked on projects, conferences and programmes that promote inclusion, value, respect and belonging.
