Spring has arrived in Alaska, and a brown bear is waking up. She was alone when she fell asleep at the start of winter; now she is climbing out of her den with two cubs. Follow them as they discover how to survive in the wilderness, from climbing trees to catching salmon, as their mother teaches the cubs how to be bears. From zoologist Dr Nick Crumpton and with stunning art from Colleen Larmour, this is a gentle and fascinating introduction to brown bears.
Dr Nick Crumpton is a zoologist and children’s author. He grew up in the UK Midlands but has worked as a biologist in Indonesia, North America and central Europe. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge and works at the Natural History Museum in London. He writes about his passion – biodiversity, both living and extinct – and has a particular fondness for weevils and sharks. Follow him on Twitter as @LSmonster. Colleen Larmour is an illustrator and designer. She first studied art at Liverpool Art School, with a focus on children's animation and design, before completing an MA in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art.
