The Memory Book
Wren & Rook (Verlag)
978-1-5263-6375-6 (ISBN)
I love visiting my grandma. We read together, play her piano, feed the birds in the garden and we love looking through her big box of photos . . .
But when Grandma starts to forget who the people in the photographs are, Mum explains that Grandma is living with something called dementia. She says, "Grandma is still the person we know and love, she's just a little different now . . . "
A reassuring story about the love between a little girl and her grandma, with practical information to help young children understand dementia and the changes it can bring.
Bonus material to discuss with little ones includes:
- What is dementia?
- How you can help
- Looking after YOU
Louise Gooding (Author) Louise Gooding is a children's writer who lives in Switzerland with her partner and three children. Always a keen reader and writer with an overactive imagination, it was no surprise that after many years working in children's entertainment Louise channelled her energy and creativity into writing books for children. Louise is keen to help increase the visibility of disabled, and neurologically diverse people in children's books, being a proud ADHDer herself, with a neurodiverse family and her first book, Just Like Me, published in 2021. She also enjoys exploring family relationships and Louise's second book, Remember When, is based on her own relationship with her grandmother and experience with dementia. Erika Meza (Illustrator) Erika was born in Mexico and developed a taste for eclairs in Paris before moving to the UK to teach drawing. She won a scholarship to study in L'École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, where she learned to combine bold colour and mark-making with poetry. When Erika isn't drawing you'll find her plotting ways to teach her cat to play the piano.
