Wangari Maathai was a fierce protector of the environment and a couragous advocate for women's rights, especially in her native country of Kenya. Her journey from a girl of rural Africa to university professor, founder of the Green Belt Movement and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate shows readers how little actions can bring about big changes.
Lisa A. Crayton once wanted to be a physical therapist. That changed when she fell in love with writing while taking an eight-grade journalism class. A former corporate publications editor and writer, she is an editor and an award-winning writer. As a children’s book author, she has written fifteen books for kids and teens, and co-authored six others. She loves coaching writers, and especially enjoys speaking at writers’ conferences. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from National University, and a bachelor’s degree in public relations and journalism, cum laude, from Utica College.
